About the course

A Scottish golf experience with Open Championship inspiration

Langlands gives you the full 18-hole experience without being an especially long course.

At par 70 and just under 6,000 yards on the scorecard, it looks manageable on paper. But, as with most golf courses, the scorecard doesn't always tell the full story. There’s enough variety across the 18 holes to keep things interesting, and plenty of opportunities to pick up a few shots if the game isn't quite behaving.

For a mid-handicapper, Langlands feels like the kind of course where a decent round is definitely there, but you still need to keep the big numbers off the card.

Front 9

The way out

The front nine finished at 42, with pars on the first and fifth holes and a birdie on the third.

The biggest damage came at the eighth, where an 8 put a dent in what had otherwise been a reasonable front nine.

Back 9

And the way in

The back nine was less consistent, finishing at 47.

There were no major disasters, but the extra shots gradually added up, with 6s appearing on holes 12, 15, 17 and 18.

The final three holes were 5, 6 and 6.

Our review of Langlands Golf Course

Langlands Golf Course is the kind of course that offers a straightforward and enjoyable introduction to traditional parkland golf without feeling overly demanding. The 6,201-yard layout provides a good balance between accessibility and challenge.

Golfers who are still developing their game should find the overall length manageable, while the variety of holes and the influence of the wind give more experienced players plenty to think about. The course's strongest feature is arguably its finish. The 17th and 18th are both demanding par 4s, meaning there is little opportunity to coast home after the turn.

The scorecard itself is probably the best way to understand the round. A 42 on the front nine showed that a good score was possible, but the 47 coming home demonstrated how quickly the extra shots can build up.

For a mid-handicapper, that's a familiar golf story — the course doesn't necessarily need to beat you with one huge hole. Sometimes it's simply a case of a few extra shots appearing here and there.
